After an 11-year-old girl was slain in a Wisconsin shooting this week, authorities have arrested a 15-year-old male as a suspect.


iexclusive News Nigeria reports that after the girl was shot on September 28, the boy was arrested and placed on a preliminary allegation of first-degree reckless homicide. The girl who was shot was later discovered to be the suspect’s sister.


Police officers and emergency medical workers responded to a complaint of a person shot at an apartment in the Curry Court area shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to the Fitchburg Police Department.


They discovered the 11-year-old girl victim, who was sent to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Carolanah Schenk has been identified as the victim. After neighbors told the Wisconsin State Journal that the suspect lived at the same Curry Court home as her, police identified him as her brother.


The teen has been put into the Dane County Juvenile Reception Center on a provisional charge of Homicide by Negligent Handling of a Dangerous Weapon, according to a police update.


The girl’s parents issued a statement on September 29 asking for prayers “while we struggle with the devastating loss of our daughter.”


In part, the statement stated, “Our 11-year-old daughter went away last night, and our family is mourning the death of our beautiful little girl.” “Our daughter was only in sixth grade and a Forest Edge Elementary School student.”


“With her siblings and father, our daughter enjoyed playing video games. She enjoyed arts and crafts, dogs, and Tik Tok and Instagram, where she would post funny pictures and videos of herself and others. Our daughter was everything to us, and her death has shattered our family,” the family noted.
