1. President Muhammadu Buhari has okayed recommendations that would address the conflicts of herders and farmers in a sustained and lasting manner. His spokesman, Garba Shehu, in a statement yesterday, said Buhari approved a number of specific measures to bring a permanent end to the frequent crisis.

2. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA, has disclosed that over 2.353 million Nigerians were displaced by bandits and natural disasters like flooding, building collapse and fire outbreaks in 2020. NEMA’s Director General, Mohammadu Mohammed stated this, yesterday, in Abuja.

3. Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday, met with the Ambassador Designate of the People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, to fine-tune ways to deepen relations between China and Nigeria. Speaking while playing host to Ambassador Jianchun in his residence in Abuja, Kalu described the visit as the building of a new partnership between the two countries.

4. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun, yesterday, signed a memoranda of understanding (MoU) and inaugurated a commission to fast track development in the borderline of the two states.

5. Igbo social-political group, Nzuko Umunna, has said the country, especially the South East, is witnessing insecurity because of injustice, inequality and lack of good governance. Sam Amadi, chairman of the group, stated this yesterday while addressing newsmen in Abuja.

6. President Muhammadu Buhari has said the death of Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other military officers has increased the country’s problems, especially at a time it is battling security challenges. He said this yesterday when he received a delegation of Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) who paid him a condolence visit.

7. A yet-to-be-identified motorcyclist was allegedly shot dead by a policeman in the Ile-Epo area along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Lagos State, on Monday. His colleagues were angered by the incident and started terrorizing the area and attempted to set the police station ablaze.

8. Officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces have been urged to maintain the high spirit and not allow the death of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other military personnel to affect their morale. Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor said this yesterday.

9. Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu yesterday reiterated that the ban on open grazing by Southern state governors is irreversible. He spoke at the 2021 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA-SPIDEL) annual conference in Ibadan.

10. Dozens of people have been killed by suspected gunmen who stormed many communities in Katsina-Ala Local Government areas of Benue State between Saturday and Sunday. The Chairman of Katsina-Ala LGA, Alfred Area confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi on Monday.
