Garba Shehu Resort To Facebook After Twitter Ban

 

Garba Shehu aide to President Mohammadu Buhari have resorted to using Facebook to carry out his duties.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that FG Friday announced the suspension of microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed had made the announcement during a press conference in Abuja.

He cited the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence as a reason for the suspension.

The suspension came after Twitter deleted a comment made by President Buhari for violating its rules.

Following the development, many Nigerians took to their social media handles to express dissatisfaction with the development, highlighting the benefits of the microblogging site.

The US, Sweden, UK have condemned the suspension of the social networking service stating that it is an infringement on human rights and deprivation of freedom of speech.

This online news medium observed that Garba Shehu, aides to the President have resorted to using Facebook after the ban.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, took to his Facebook account to reveal why the decision to ban Twitter was taken in a statement on Saturday.

According to him, the temporary suspension of Twitter in Nigeria was not just a response to the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari’s post.
