Enough Is Enough Ortom Vows To Take Action Against Killer Herdsmen In Benue

Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has vowed to take action against ranchers in his state.

iexclusive News Nigeria report that Ottom said it’s time to stop crying over the herdsmen’ attacks and take action against them.

The governor was speaking during a meeting with the media at the state government building on Saturday.

He stressed that his government will take measures to protect the people of the state from looting and killing of herdsmen.

Ottom also stressed that despite attacks from ranchers, his government will not repeal state laws against free grazing.

He said the attacks would instead push his government to strengthen legislation banning open-air grazing.

Ottom said: A few weeks ago, Benue stakeholders got together and authorized this government to initiate and implement the

Community Volunteer Management Act of 2000. We’ve started recruiting dependents, aged 50 and under to participate in volunteer supervision.

“Their duty is to Support traditional security agencies to protect their communities. We’ve cried a lot. We won’t cry anymore. Now is the time to act.”
