Presidency: Igboho Is A Militant, Accuses Nnamdi Kanu Of Harming Nigerians

The Presidency praised the nation’s security agencies on Tuesday for their cooperation in the operations that resulted in the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Malam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity), accused Kanu of causing hardship for Nigerians in a statement.

He claimed that the international operation against Kanu was well-coordinated, leading to his capture.

Shehu also justified the raid on the home of self-proclaimed activist Sunday Igboho, whom he described as a militant.

He stated that, despite criticism, the Buhari administration respects citizens’ rights.

“Last week, we saw the enhanced collaboration of Nigerian law enforcement agencies, as they executed arrests with great synchronization of individuals who had inflicted pain and hardship on fellow citizens,” the statement said.

As a result of cross-border cooperation, the subversive leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group known for its murderous actions and virulent messaging, was apprehended.

This international operation was carried out in a well-coordinated manner, after which he was handed over to our National Intelligence Agency and returned to Nigeria to face the consequences.

“Hundreds of people have been killed as a result of IPOB-inspired violence, which has primarily targeted government assets and law enforcement agents.

Furthermore, there have been fifty (55) separate violent attacks, with a heavy concentration in the South-East, which have added to the hardships of our honest and hardworking citizens, preventing them from earning a living and going about their normal lives.

The government had long been monitoring IPOB’s activities and had reason to believe that their funding came from proceeds of suspected illicit criminal activities.

Our community has been restored to sanity, calm, and peace as a result of this singular action by our security forces.

“As part of its ongoing diligence, the State Security Service raided the residence of a militant ethnic Secessionist on Thursday, July 1st, who has also been conducting acts of terror and disturbing the peace under the guise of protecting fellow “kinsmen.”

His seditious utterances and antics, which he is known to have publicly expressed, have evolved over time into extremely hateful and vile speeches. It must be emphasized that the government respects citizens’ fundamental right to express themselves and recognizes this as a democratic tenet.

“However, any attempt to construct an armory in conjunction with plans, whether subtle or explicit, to undermine our nation’s unity will fail.”

“Mr President’s directives to Security Services regarding anyone seen carrying arms, particularly AK-47s, are unambiguous and do not require further clarification.

Assault weapons are not tools of peace, and as such, security agencies should treat them all the same, regardless of who they are or where they come from.

Our security agencies’ accomplishments must be lauded, as they have demonstrated significant deftness, guile, and secrecy in carrying out these missions.

This level of professionalism must be maintained and applied as we focus on extracting from our society those who have discovered a new trade-in targeting students, rural dwellers, and our citizens in the North.
