11 Persons Died As A Result Of Lightning Strikes In Northern India.

 

Iexclusive News Nigeria reports that in India, at least 11 individuals were killed by lightning while taking selfies during a storm.

 

The victims were struck by lightning while on top of a watchtower in northern India.

At least 11 persons have died as a result of lightning strikes while snapping selfies on top a watch tower which is the tower of Jaipur’s 12th-century Amer Fort, it is said that these people jumped down from the top of the tower.

The massive bolt impacted the tourist site, where dozens of people had congregated to take pictures, according to shocking footage captured from a nearby building.

 

The majority of them who died at the tower, according to senior police officer Anand Srivastava, were young.

 

Over the weekend, more than 60 people were killed by lightning storms in India’s northern states.

 

When the state of Rajasthan was hit by thunderstorms and monsoon rains, Mr Srivastava said at least nine additional persons were murdered and over 20 more were injured in separate lightning strikes.

 

On Sunday, July 11, 18 persons were killed by lightning in Uttar Pradesh, according to a government official. The majority of those slain were farm workers in the fields.

 

The relatives of the fatalities and those who were injured have received financial compensation from both state governments.

 

More lightning is expected in the following two days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
