Russia Declares Its Commitment To Reviving The Ajaokuta Steel Company
Russia has reaffirmed its commitment to bringing Nigeria’s Ajaokuta Steel Company back to life.
iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Sergey Vershinin, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, revealed this during a ceremony to collect copies D’Usage of his letters of credence from Nigeria’s Ambassador to Russia, Abdullahi Yibaikwal.
According to a statement released by the Nigerian Embassy in Moscow, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, along with the Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Africa, Vsevolod Tkachenko, pledged that country’s commitment to revitalizing the steel company.
He announced that Russia had been admitted as an Observer to the Non-Aligned Countries group, and he asked for Nigeria’s help and support in dealing with global concerns like terrorism, transnational crimes, arms control, climate change, and human rights.
The purpose of the ceremony, according to the deputy minister, is to allow the Nigerian ambassador to perform diplomatic duties in the Russian Federation.
He wished the ambassador a fruitful and successful mission in the Russian Federation.
In his remarks, Yibaikwal praised the Russian government for its assistance to Nigeria and emphasized the need of maintaining and deepening bilateral ties.
