Suspected terrorists killed seven vigilantes known as Yan Sakai in an attack on Dansadau town in Zamfara State’s Maru Local Government Area.

According to reports monitored on Daily Trust, the armed crooks stormed the neighborhood about 3 a.m. and went after certain targets.

They fired numerous rounds into the air before breaking into various residences and kidnapping 13 individuals, including ladies.

“Those slain were vigilantes who boldly emerged from their homes and battled the assailants.

The armed intruders then set fire to an armored truck stationed at the community by security personnel.

“The security personnel fought back, but were likely overwhelmed by the sheer number of assailants,” a resident added.

Dansadau, a hamlet located 100 kilometers south of Gusau, the state capital, has been the target of a series of fatal raids.

The armed men decided to increase their attacks on the neighborhood after local vigilantes murdered suspected bandits extrajudicially a few months ago.

The people of the neighborhood also prevented the suspected bandits from obtaining items such as bread and soft drinks from the village’s local vendors.

In retaliation, the bandits who were allegedly enraged by the actions barred inhabitants of the village, the majority of whom are farmers, from accessing their farmlands.

Dozens of farmers have been killed or abducted since the start of this year’s cropping season.

The spokesman of the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
