Abbas Fatai Nigerian Army Officer Assassinated In Yenagoa

 

Abbas Fatai, a military officer with the 16 Brigade in Yenagoa, was shot dead by suspected members of the Icelanders cult organization.

 

According to a wireless communication obtained by Peoples Gazette.

 

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that according to preliminary investigations by the army, Mr Fatai was shot dead at around 9:12 p.m. on July 22 at Igbogene Junction in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, where he resided.

 

The cult gang, lead by a man named Confidence, attacked and shot the officer, who was then brought to the hospital and pronounced dead.

 

Suspected members of an Icelanders cult commanded by one Mr Confidence attacked and shot 08NA/61/2298 CPL Abbas Fatai of the 16 Brigade at Igbogene Junction in Yenagoa LGA, Bayelsa State,” the message said in part.

 

Mr Fatai’s body has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, according to the army, who has also initiated a manhunt for the culprits.

 

This online news outlet gathered that Butswat Asinim, the state police command’s spokesperson, did not respond to The Gazette’s request for comment on the officer’s death.

 

Hassan Ahmed, a Nigerian Army general, was assassinated by assailants on the Abuja-Lokoja highway on July 15.

 

Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, announced Mr. Ahmed’s death in a statement.
