Abba Kyari Should Fly To The U.S If He’s Sure Of His Tailor Defence -Falana

Abba Kyari Should Fly to the U.S If He’s Sure Of His Tailor Defence -Falana

Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, has challenged Nigeria’s deputy police commissioner Abba Kyari to submit to the United States District Court if he is not guilty of the charges leveled against him.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Abba Kyari denied any involvement after the Peoples Gazette reported on Thursday that he was involved in a multimillion-dollar scam with Nigerian Internet criminal Ramon Abass, also known as Hushpuppi.

After Mr. Abbas pled guilty to large-scale cyber fraud in the United States recently, court records showed an order to arrest and detain Abba Kyari.

The records also revealed how Mr. Abbas paid Abba Kyari to have one of his gang members arrested following a quarrel over alleged criminal gains.

The gang member was apprehended and held by the police officer.

Abba Kyari, in a message on Facebook, claimed no involvement and recounted how Mr. Abbas phoned him two years ago to complain about a person threatening to harm his family.

“They are lifelong friends who have money difficulties between them,” he added, adding that the suspect was freed when it was discovered there was no threat to anyone’s life.

“Nobody requested a kobo from Abbas Hushpuppi,” he said, alleging that he simply connected Mr. Abbas to his cloth dealer, who paid N300,000 to him.

Abba Kyari said, “Later, he spotted some of my native garments and hats on my social media profile and said he loves them, and he was linked to the guy selling the items, so he transferred around N300k directly to the person’s account.”

“The local clothing and hats (5 sets) were sent to our office, and He dispatched someone to collect them.”

“The United States and Nigeria have an extradition treaty that covers the acts allegedly committed by CP Abba Kyari,” Mr. Falana said in response to Kyari’s accusations.

“If the police officer insists on his innocence, he should submit to the authority of the United States district court. The attorney general will begin extradition procedures in the federal high court once the federal government receives the request.”

Abba Kyari quit his job as a police officer and traveled to Dubai to spend time with Mr. Abbas, who stayed at Palazzo Versace in the Emirati commercial hub, according to the indictment file.
