1. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, signed the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into law. According to a statement by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, Buhari put his signature to the bill due to his determination to fulfill his constitutional duty.

2. The Nigerian Army says there is confusion and apprehension within the camp of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists following the recent massive surrender of Boko Haram fighters. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, in Abuja.

3. Former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, has said he is not interested in being the president of Nigeria. Sanusi, who is also the Khalifa Tijjaniya in Nigeria, spoke at a dinner that was put together in commemoration of his 60th birthday.

4. Security operatives, including a policeman, have been shot dead in a fresh attack in Zamfara State when gunmen broke into the College of Agriculture and Animal Health in Bakura Local Government Area of the State and abducted many students. Aliyu Bakura, Deputy Registrar of the college, confirmed the development.

5. Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo has said his primary assignment in government is to serve the people and honor God. 6. Gunmen have killed four workers of an oil firm in Assa, a community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State. The National President of Congress of Ohaji Youths, Emmanuel Ugorji who confirmed the incident, called on the police to beef up security in the area.

7. The United States, on Monday gave conditions for recognizing a Taliban government in Afghanistan. US Department Spokesman, Ned Price, said on Monday that the US would only recognize a Taliban government in Afghanistan if it respects the rights of women, shuns, and denounces extremist movements such as Al-Qaeda.
