Russia blames U.S., NATO forces withdrawal for the collapse in Afghanistan

 

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that on a variety of issues relating to regional crises and conflicts, Russia is pressing for deeper collaboration with the European Union.

 

Russia believes that the situation in Afghanistan has collapsed as a result of the withdrawal of US and NATO soldiers.

 

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced this at the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University.

 

Mr. Lavrov emphasized the need for Russian-EU collaboration on a variety of issues relating to regional crises and conflicts.

 

“In order to assist settle the various regional problems and conflicts, we must work together.

“This was expressed quite brilliantly once again amid the breakdown of the situation in Afghanistan following the premature withdrawal of the US and NATO,” he added.

This is Mr. Lavrov’s first statement on the situation in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s assumption of power, a terrorist organization banned in Russia.

 

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan Dmitry Zhirnov will meet with a representative of the Taliban movement.

 

According to the embassy, a Taliban member has come for the meeting as of the time of writing this report.
