Iexclusive News Nigeria reports that in September, the record-breaking 2020 comedy will debut on the streaming platform.
In ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ Funke Akindele-Bello plays both Lefty and Ayomide.
‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga,’ a 2020 popular comedy feature-length film starring Funke Akindele-Bello and JJC Skillz, is finally scheduled to delight Netflix users.
The record-breaking movie will be released to Netflix on September 10, 2021. The comedy is a sequel to Akindele’s 2010 ‘Omo Ghetto‘ trilogy, and stars Deyemi Okanlawon, Eniola Badmus, and Chioma Chukwuka in dual roles.
The sequel follows Shalewa aka Lefty (Akindele) as she battles to choose between her adopted mother’s life of riches and comfort and returning to her ghetto lifestyle. Tina Mba, Adebayo Salami alias Oga Bello, Zubby Michael, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, and Alex Ekubo feature in the film.
In January, barely a month after its theatrical premiere, ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ smashed a four-year Nollywood record. The film grossed nearly N500 million at the box office before the end of its run.
After defeating Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ for the highest grossing Nollywood film and the highest grossing movie in Nigerian box office, it is now the highest grossing Nollywood film and the highest grossing movie in Nigerian box office.
