Toke Makinwa opens up about her struggle following her divorce

 

It was a marriage made in heaven and entirely for the screens when Toke Makiwa, a TV personality and brand influencer, married Maje Ayida in 2014.

 

The honeymoon, however, didn’t last long before the marriage came to an end. In a recent #WithChude discussion.

 

Toke explained how the marriage fell apart unexpectedly, and how it scared her the most because the entire affair was documented on social media while she was still unaware of what had happened.

 

“I went to bed one way and woke up the other,” she says. I was sleeping when the news came in the media.”

 

She stated that the circumstances behind her marriage’s demise had crushed her heart, but she had to pull herself together and keep working because it was the only way she could regain her footing.

 

“The next day, I was at work because it was the only thing I knew how to do. I knew I needed to keep going because I needed the money. I had to work in order to avoid going bankrupt. I knew I wasn’t going to depart with a trust money if I was going to leave this marriage. So I had to work my tail off to make sure that at the very least, I could afford a place,” she explained.
