The Emir of Gaya in Kano, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, has died.
iexclusivenews Nigeria reports that Malam Shamsu Isa Kademi, the Ajiyan Gaya, verified the Emir’s death.
According to him, the Late Emir of Gaya died at the age of 91 in his Gaya residence.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje promoted him to the rank of Emir of the First Class in 2019.
Since his appointment as Sarkin Gaya district head of Gaya in 1990, he has been on the throne.
He held a number of traditional positions, including Kunchi district head and Minjibir district head, among others.
Gaya is one of Kano’s five emirates.
