Black Widow: Disney Resolves Dispute With Scarlett Johansson

The Walt Disney Company and actress Scarlett Johansson announced jointly on Thursday that their legal issue originating from the release of her Marvel superhero film “Black Widow” has been settled.

The terms of their agreement were kept under wraps.

iexclusive News Nigeria gathered that in July, Johansson, 36, filed a lawsuit against Disney, alleging that the business breached her contract by releasing the film on streaming at the same time it was in theaters.

Her complaint, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claimed that the “Black Widow” split release plan had lowered her remuneration, which she said was to be based in part on box office profits from what was meant to be an exclusive run in theaters.

At the time, Disney replied that the case had “no merit” and that the company had followed the terms of Johansson’s contract.

Alan Bergman, content head for Disney Studios, said in a statement Thursday, “I’m extremely delighted that we were able to come to a consensual understanding with Scarlett Johansson over ‘Black Widow.'”

Johansson expressed her delight at the resolution of her disputes with the corporation and expressed enthusiasm for future partnership.

Her statement read, “I’m tremendously pleased of the work we’ve done together over the years and have much loved my creative partnership with the team.”
