17 Injured 10 Killed In Kwara Fatal Auto Crash

 

On Sunday, ten people were killed in a deadly car accident near Onipako hamlet on the Jebba-Bode-Saadu highway in Kwara.

 

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the auto accident occurred at around 2.40 p.m. in Jebba, in the Moro Local Government Area of Kwara state, injuring seventeen others.

 

Two commercial vehicles were involved in the collision: a six-passenger Toyota sedan with the registration number AAA 250 CB and an 18-seater Hummer bus with the registration number LAP 179 XA.

 

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the victims of the tragedy in the six-passenger automobile were returning to their destination after attending a prayer session for a deceased colleague.

 

The driver of the six-passenger automobile was accused of speeding and improperly overtaking the 18-seater Hummer bus, according to an eyewitness.

 

For rescue operations, police and authorities from the Federal Road Safety Commission’s Jebba Division were on the scene.

 

The injured people were transferred to Jebba Medical Centre for treatment.

 

Jonathan Owoade, the Kwara State Sector Commander, who confirmed the disaster, said the mishap included 26 persons, 20 males and six girls.

 

Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, spokesman for the Kwara State Police Command, verified the development.

 

When the accident happened, he stated, the Hummer bus was on its way to Kwara and the second vehicle was leaving the state.

 

“About ten people perished,” he revealed. A Toyota Corolla and a Hummer bus were involved in the collision.”

 

He said, “The Hummer bus was approaching inward Kwara while the other car was moving out.”
