Alec Baldwin Attends Private Memorial For Cinematographer He Accidentally Killed

Alec Baldwin, a Hollywood actor, held a private memorial for the 42-year-old cinematographer he mistakenly shot and murdered with a toy gun on his movie set on Friday night.

Halyna Hutchins

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Thursday, October 21, Halyna Hutchins, 42, was tragically killed when Baldwin fired a prop gun loaded with live ammo.

According to Showbiz 411, her husband and kid attended the service in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which included grief counselors on the scene.

The International Cinematographers Guild’s Local 600 has planned a public commemoration for Sunday night in Santa Fe.

Baldwin took to Twitter on Friday to address Thursday’s “tragic accident,” saying he’d been in contact with Hutchins’ husband.

‘There are no words to express my shock and anguish over the horrific accident that claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and a deeply loved colleague of ours,’ the actor wrote. I’m completely collaborating with the police inquiry into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy, and’

‘I’ve been in touch with her husband, offering him and his family my support.’ My heart breaks for Halyna’s husband, their son, and everyone who knew and loved her.’

iexclusive News Nigeria gathered that on Friday morning, Hutchins’ grieving husband Matthew told DailyMail.com that he had spoken with the actor.

‘I chatted with Alec Baldwin, and he is quite supportive,’ he revealed.

Baldwin was overheard asking others around him why he’d been given a ‘hot pistol’ after the tragic incident.

‘I’ve never been handed a hot pistol in all my years,’ he was overheard saying.

Baldwin afterwards tweeted a link to a Variety piece titled Alec Baldwin Was Told Prop Gun Was Safe Before Fatal Shooting, According to Affidavit.

According to the affidavit, the prop pistol given to Baldwin was “certified safe” by the production’s assistant director Dave Halls, who “shouted “cold gun” on set, indicating that the prop gun was safe to use and did not contain any live bullets.”

It also alleges that the assistant director claimed he “didn’t realize live ammunition were in the prop gun,” which had been prepared by armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed ahead of time.
