Warrant: Alec Baldwin Didn’t Know Weapon Contained Live Round

 

Unsealed court documents disclose that a film crew member handed Alec Baldwin a loaded gun and assured him that it was safe.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that court documents indicate that an assistant director handed Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin a loaded revolver and informed him it was safe to use on set.

Moments before the actor squeezed the trigger and killed a cinematographer on the set of a Western film in New Mexico.

According to the document, the assistant director, Dave Halls, informed New Mexico detectives that he had no idea the prop gun was loaded with real ammunition..

“It’s a cold gun!” Halls yelled before handing it up to Baldwin, according to the Associated Press.

Halls was announcing that the pistol was safe to use on the scene by exclaiming “Cold gun!” a phrase used by film crews during movie sets that involve guns or military equipment.

Baldwin fired the revolver without realizing it was loaded, striking cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in the chest.

Mamie Mitchell, the film’s script supervisor, stated she was standing next to Hutchins when she was shot. Mitchell told the Associated Press, “I raced out and called 911 and shouted, ‘Bring everybody, send everybody.”

iexclusive News Nigeria gathered that according to court documents, the movie’s director, Joel Souza, was standing behind Hutchins when Baldwin squeezed the gun. He was injured, admitted to the hospital for a short time, and then released.

According to reports monitored by iexclusive News Nigeria on Associated Press, the gun was one of three that the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez, placed on a cart outside a wooden structure where a scene was to be shot.

Investigators detailed the incident in a search warrant request to aid them in documenting the scene at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, where the shooting occurred on Thursday afternoon, October 21.

Baldwin’s blood-stained outfit, as well as the weapon used in the shooting, were taken as evidence, according to the court filing.

Investigators also seized more prop firearms and ammo for the film “Rust,” which is based on a narrative written by Baldwin and Souza.

Baldwin, 63, was allowed to go after no charges were filed right away, according to sheriff’s spokesman Juan Rios.

“He’s a free man,” Rios said.

Meanwhile, Baldwin attended a Hutchins memorial on Saturday, and he was allegedly upset by the situation.
