NDLEA Officials Aided Abba Kyari In Drug Trafficking - IGP
Following his indictment by a US court, Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has stated that he has yet to receive a formal extradition request from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) for Abba Kyari, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
iexclusive Need Nigeria reports that on Thursday, Baba said this while answering questions from State House reporters.
Kyari has been charged with being a co-conspirator in a $1.1 million fraud scheme using Instagram sensation Hushpuppi.
Baba revealed that the panel set up to investigate the case has presented its findings to the Federation’s Secretary-General, Boss Mustapha.
“I have not received any extradition request formally. But I have read from other places that there was an extradition request. I’ve not seen it and that is one.
“Two, we took action on our own by forming a panel to investigate the claims leveled against the senior officer.
“The charges were based on fraternizing with Hushpuppi and getting a series of extrajudicial torture instructions, among other things. We investigated all of these claims through the DIG-appointed committee and reported our findings to the SGF.
“We just obtained legal counsel from the Attorney General’s office on what to do next in terms of requesting the officer to account for the information we gathered throughout our investigation,” Baba added.
