Police Service Commission Berates Officers Against Harassing Nigerians

Musiliu Smith, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, chastised Nigerian police officers on Wednesday for numerous reports of civilian harassment.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that he stated this during the Pull-Out-Parade event for Deputy Inspector-General of Police David Folawiyo, at Force Headquarters.

“Have fear of God in your relationships with people, and prepare yourself for higher roles, and always be good team workers,” he advised.

“Please, I want to appeal to all of you who are still behind, it is not easy for an officer to reach the summit where Folawiyo has arrived.

“A lot of us (police officers) aren’t exactly a blessing to the force, as you know! Please aim to be a good representative of the force and a good ambassador for your family, because as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, I’ve seen a lot of wrongdoing, and we’ve been ruthless in dealing with those who want to continue to smear the force’s and country’s names.”

Meanwhile, the IGP has approved the appointment of Ag. DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo as a member of the Force Management Team and coordinating DIG in-charge of the country’s South-West geopolitical zone to the Force Headquarters.

Kokumo, who was the AIG in charge of Zone-2 Headquarters in Lagos until his recent promotion, took over from DIG Folawiyo and now lead the Force’s Department of Research and Planning.
