Ferran Torres Joins Barcelona From Man City For £55m

Ferran Torres a Manchester City winger has completed his signing with Barcelona, the club announced on Tuesday.

According to reports monitored by iexclusivenews on ESPN, Barcelona was close to a €55 million ($62 million) deal for Torres, which has now been completed.

Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City’s director of football, stated: “Ferran should be proud of his accomplishments at Manchester City.

“His first season in a new country was last season, and he adjusted well. He always gave his all, worked tirelessly for the team, and scored goals that helped us win trophies.

“Unfortunately, injury prevented him from playing more games this season, but Ferran is a player we have all enjoyed working with, and we wish him the best of luck at Barcelona and throughout his career.”

What You Need To Know;

Ferran Torres, 21, has agreed to terms with Camp Nou until 2027, with a €1 billion release clause, and could make his debut in the Copa del Rey on January 5 against Linares Deportivo.

He won’t be able to play against Mallorca on January 2 because he hasn’t recovered from a foot injury that has kept him out since September.

Barcelona’s financial problems have been well documented, with gross debts of more than €1 billion forcing Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann to leave the club last summer.

However, iexclusivenews gathered that club sources told ESPN that they do not anticipate any difficulties in signing Torres to LaLiga when the registration window opens on January 3.

What Barcelona Should Do;

The club must also register Dani Alves, but the departure of Griezmann at the end of August and Sergio Aguero’s retirement due to a heart condition has given them some leeway within LaLiga’s €97 million spending limit for the season.

Salaries and money spent on signings are included in the limit, but fees are spread out throughout the contract.

The Spanish league allows Barcelona to spend 25% of what they save in wages or transfer fees.

The club is still working on making more room, and sources say they hope to do so by early termination of loans for Yusuf Demir and Luuk de Jong, as well as being open to offers for several other players.s.

A new contract for Ousmane Dembele would also help, as it would spread the amortization payments for his fee over a longer period.

Torres is Barcelona’s second signing under head coach Xavi Hernandez, following the free transfer of Alves in November.

Barcelona stepped up their efforts to sign Torres, a player they have long wanted, according to ESPN, and the 21-year-old informed City boss Pep Guardiola of his desire to leave last week.

Torres has scored 16 goals in 43 appearances for City since joining in August 2020 for €23 million ($26 million). He has 12 goals in 22 games for Spain.

“I want my players to be happy. I’ve said many times that if you’re not happy, you should leave. We are not like other clubs in that guy who want to leave must do so “Guardiola stated.
