Barcelona have confirmed that new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will wear the No. 25 shirt for the rest of the season at the Camp Nou.
The Gabonese international joined Barcelona on deadline day after leaving Arsenal. He has a contract with the Catalan giants until 2025.
On Thursday, Aubameyang was officially introduced at Camp Nou, where the club also confirmed his squad number.
When it came to numbers, Aubameyang didn’t have much of a choice. The No. 25 jersey is intended for third-choice goalkeepers but isn’t required with Inaki Pena at Galatasaray for the rest of the season.
Outfielders have previously worn the number, but with limited success. Both Thomas Vermaelen and Alex Song have worn the No. 25 jersey for Barcelona, but the less said about both players, the better.
When asked about his goals, Aubameyang sounded quite confident during his presentation.
“I don’t know if I have a number [of goals], but I hope to score a lot of goals,” he said. “A lot would be great.”
