NFT News: Horizon FCB Launches Campaign to Free Jailed Egyptian Women With NFT Sales

NFT News – Horizon FCB, a UAE-based advertising agency, has launched a non-fungible token (NFT) campaign to raise funds to free Egyptian women imprisoned for failing to pay their debts.

iexclusivenews reports that Horizon FCB has collaborated with the non-governmental organization Children of Female Prisoners Association on this campaign (CFPA).

According to a report published by Unlock Media, the imprisoned women were unable to repay relatively small loans taken out to pay for medicine, emergencies, and other family needs, and thus ended up in prison.

This online news outlet understands that Horizon FCB’s general manager, Reham Mufleh, explained the reasoning behind the company’s decision to assist.

Mufleh stated:

“We created and launched a humane initiative, break chains with blockchain. Inspired by the reasons for their imprisonment. We created it in collaboration with artists from around the world, nfts. Each is designed to tell a woman’s story, the story of why she was sentenced. And each nft is priced at the amount it will cost to free them from their sentence and give them a second chance at life.”

iexclusivenews Nigeria reports that over 10,000 Egyptian women are imprisoned each year. According to the report, their only crime is failing to repay their loans.

Mazen Jawad, CEO of Horizon FCB, said the campaign was inspired by the heartbreaking stories of the imprisoned women and the plight of their families.

Horizon FCB and its partner CFPA are also using the novelty of NFTs to raise awareness about the plight of imprisoned women and their families.

Three Egyptian mothers were reunited with their families on March 21.

The day the campaign was launched after their debts were paid with funds raised from the sale of NFTs.
