Hushpuppi Jailed For 11 Years In Prison By A US Court

Hushpuppi, real name Ramon Abbas, a popular Nigerian socialite and internet sensation, has been jailed for 11 years by the U.S Central District Court in California over fraud and money laundering.

iexclusivenews reports that Mr Hushpuppi will however spend only nine years in prison as he has already spent two years in prison in the US.

This online news outlet understands that Hushpuppi was in June 2020 arrested in Dubai,  UAE, over an extensive fraud scheme that has robbed victims of their money in the U.S, Qatar, U K, and other places.

After that, he was taken to the US, where he was accused of fraud and money laundering.

He entered a guilty plea to conspiring to launder money with a number of individuals both inside and outside the US in order to speed up the legal process.

However, the socialite received only 11 years in prison after pleading with US Judge Otis Wright for a lenient sentence and a lighter sentence after performing well in prison cleaning tasks.

Keep in mind that Hushpuppi’s 2.8 million-follower Instagram page has disappeared from the photo-sharing website.

However, iexclusivenews Nigeria reports it’s unclear whether it was formally taken down from Instagram or if a user with access temporarily disabled the page.
