Elon Musk Lifts Donald Trump’s Twitter Ban

Elon Musk, Twitter’s new owner has said Donald Trump’s account has been reinstated after running a poll in which users narrowly backed the move.

“The people have spoken,” tweeted Mr Musk, saying that 51.8% of more than 15 million Twitter users voted for the ban to be lifted.

iexclusivenews reports that the former US president may not return to the platform, having previously stated, “I don’t see any reason for it.”

This online news outlet understands that due to the risk of inciting violence, his account was suspended in 2021.

Twitter’s previous management acted just days after supporters of Donald Trump stormed the US Capitol in Washington DC on January 6.

Hundreds of rioters stormed the complex as the US Congress attempted to certify Joe Biden’s presidential election victory.

Four civilians and a police officer were killed in the ensuing violence.

Donald Trump’s Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube accounts, which all had tens of millions of followers, were all suspended shortly after the riots.

Several months later, he launched Truth Social, his own social media platform.

Earlier this week, the Republican announced that he would run for President of the United States again in 2024.

Mr Musk, the world’s richest man, purchased Twitter in October for $44 billion (£37 billion).

He immediately instituted a series of radical changes within the social media behemoth.

Prompting fears that he would relax Twitter’s policies on hate speech and misinformation.

With just over a week until the US midterm elections on November 8, he tweeted:

“If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if Trump is coming back on this platform, Twitter would be minting money!”

What You Should Know

He informed employees earlier this week that the company’s office buildings would be temporarily closed with immediate effect.

The announcement comes amid reports that a large number of employees were leaving after Mr Musk demanded that they work “long hours at high intensity” or leave.

Donald Trump was aware of the significance of the poll, despite his official position that he does not want to return to Twitter.

He encouraged his Truth Social followers to vote in the poll.

“Vote with optimism now, but don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere. Truth Social is unique “, he explained.

It’s a strange statement. Why should Mr. Trump’s supporters vote if he has no intention of returning?

Truth Social has fewer users than Twitter, which adds to Mr Trump’s quandary.

According to Sensor Tower, only 92,000 people downloaded Truth Social in September.

During the same time period, nearly 15 million people downloaded Twitter.

Mr. Trump would like to reclaim his megaphone. His favorite app was Twitter, which he used to gain support and dominate the news cycle.

However, while he would have far greater reach on Twitter, he has a financial stake in Truth Social’s success.

The app is owned by Trump Media & Technology Group, and it’s difficult to see Truth Social continuing if Trump returns to Twitter.

That helps to explain why Donald Trump isn’t clamoring to return to Twitter just yet.

However, iexclusivenews Nigeria reports that in the long run, he will have to balance financial decisions with political ones, and with plans to run for president again – don’t rule him out.
