2023: Ohanaeze Issues Warning Over Plot To Destabilize Enugu State

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, has committed to exposing anybody scheming to undermine Enugu State’s enduring peace.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the Igbo organization’s warning comes after a declaration from a group led by Amb. Tony Chiemelu Obizoba, who claimed he was heading to Enugu to organize a one-million-man march demanding Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s scorecard.

In response to the occurrence, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, said he had previously warned about the activities of fifth columnists who were unhappy with Gov. Ugwuanyi’s high approval rating ahead of the 2023 elections.

Okwu stated that any right-thinking and honest person could hardly claim that Enugu State lacked competent governance when all evidence and statistics suggested otherwise.

He stated that politicians who felt threatened by Gov. Ugwuanyi’s rising popularity were using a non-existent alias, ‘Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly,’ as part of their game plan.

“We read with alarm the news in a segment of the media attributed to one anonymous individual who purports to be the Director-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly Worldwide and goes by the name Amb. Tony Chiemelu Obizoba.”

“Our immediate instinct was to dismiss the anonymous tip, but we had no choice but to respond in order to prevent it from gaining credibility in the minds of certain naive and misinformed members of the public.”

“Apart from the reality that no such group exists in Igbo country, all of the claims stated in the said declaration are false narratives.”

Despite the current instability in the South-East, Enugu State has remained one of the safest states in the country, thanks to the exceptional leadership provided by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

It is also undeniable that no governor in the history of Enugu State has built as many outstanding infrastructure projects in rural communities as Gov. Ugwuanyi has.

“Good government is assessed not by spurious projects but by accountability, transparency, human-centered infrastructure projects, and welfare reform, among other things, and the governor has subsequently scored above average in all of these areas, as legitimate organizations and agencies have verified.

“As a result, it beyond our comprehension that some nameless groups would make accusations against the Governor. As previously said, all of this is part of the 2023 game. However, we strongly advise those responsible for this game to proceed with caution. We already know who they are and will expose them, as well as their paymasters, in the coming days.

“The people of Enugu treasure a peaceful state, and we will not fold our hands and allow a few greedy people to sabotage it for the sake of petty politics.”

Only God has the authority to provide power, and only God knows who will live until 2023; as a result, individuals should cease pretending to be God in order to condemn their perceived political opponents.

“With this in mind, we urge security agencies to be on high alert and to put an end to any attempt to destabilize Enugu State.” We, for one, are already waiting for the aforementioned group, should they exist at all. If they bring in persons to set fire to Enugu State, they would be met with a retaliatory fire by the entire Igbo youths.”

Okwu advised the Governor to be focused on the people of Enugu State and not be sidetracked.

“The Governor, a man of the people, a peacemaker, and a unifier, has the support of the whole Igbo youth.” Okwu remarked, “He should not lose sleep over the antics of these desperadoes.”
