2023 Presidency: Party Leaders Won’t Help You – Iyorchia Ayu Tells Momodu

2023 Presidency – Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Thursday, told presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, that members of the party, and not leaders, would determine who emerges as the PDP presidential candidate in the general elections.

Iyorchia Ayu said this during Momodu’s visit to the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja where he formally presented his letter of intent to contest for the party’s presidential ticket.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the PDP National Chairman stated that the party has no favorite presidential candidate, and would give a level playing field for all candidates.

“You must have a strong platform to run for government,” Ayu stated, “but the first responsibility I will assign to you is to work hard and develop a strong party with which we can go into combat.”

“I wish you well, and I hope you the best, for your personal goal, as I do for all other candidates.”

“All aspirants will have an equal playing field, just like you; we don’t have a special candidate; the PDP has no favorite candidate; the party members will pick who will run for whatever seat.”

“If party members vote for you at the end of the day, the PDP will support you.” Because the party leadership will not do it for you, you must go out and work among the party members across the country. It’s our job to strive to set up the required mechanism.”
