UK Police Arrest Dokpesi Ahead Of London Meeting With Atiku – Reports

Raymond Dokpesi was arrested in the United Kingdom on Sunday night, ahead of a scheduled political meeting with Atiku Abubakar, according to reports.

According to The Whistler, which first reported the incident citing passengers on the same flight, Mr Dokpesi was picked up at London Heathrow Airport. As he touched down from a connecting flight via Frankfurt on Sunday evening.

iexclusivenews learned that Lufthansa flight LH916 arrived in London from Frankfurt at 5:39 p.m. local time.

Mr. Dokpesi’s arrest was not immediately clear, but iexclusivenews understands that he was still at the airport at 12:06 a.m. on Monday. Scotland Yard did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

According to a source, Mr Dokpesi may soon be cleared through immigration and released.

Though the reasons for his arrest were unclear even to his associates as of late Sunday.

The arrest comes as Mr Dokpesi was preparing to meet Mr Abubakar in London for a meeting. Which a party source stated was linked to preparations for the presidential election next month.

Mr Abubakar is the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the election.

However, iexclusivenews Nigeria reports that another key PDP politician, Ike Ekweremadu, has been detained in London since June 2022 on charges of organ trafficking. A trial in the case was set to begin on January 31.
