Naija News: Protesters barricade Osun roads, CP convoy blocked

Naija News – Protesters blocked major roads in Osogbo and Ilesa on Saturday, reportedly in protest of the Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to remove Senator Ademola Adeleke as governor.

iexclusivenews reports that the protesters who blocked vehicular movement along the Osogbo/Ikirun road.  Also blocked traffic on the Gbongan/Osogbo road and beat up many commercial motorcyclists who were operating in the town.

However, while many commuters were stranded and had to walk long distances to their destinations.

iexclusivenews Nigeria reports that many businesses remained closed for fear of being attacked by hoodlums.

The convoy of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Kehinde Longe, was stopped in Igbona Area by some people who were believed to be members of the transport management committee.

According to an eyewitness who witnessed the incident, operatives in the CP convoy later cleared the barricade and moved on.

The popular Roundabout in Ilesa was closed to traffic, forcing commuters to take alternate routes to their destinations.

When asked for comment, iexclusivenews reports that Osun Police Command spokesperson Yemisi Opalola said:

“more men have been deployed to the identified spots where roads were blocked to traffic. The situation is under control.”
