Man Utd Win The Race for England Youngster Harry Amass

Man Utd have pulled off a coup by securing the services of Harry Amass, the talented England U16 left-back from Watford.

iexclusivenews reports that the 16-year-old defender has not played for Watford’s senior team yet, but he has been turning heads with his performances for the club’s U18s and England’s youth teams.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who dropped the bombshell today (June 26), Amass will join Man Utd on a four-year deal and become their newest gem in their academy.

The Athletic reports that United and Watford are still hammering out the compensation fee for Amass, who made his debut for England U15s when he was only 14 years old.

Amass was a standout player for Watford’s U18s in 2022/23, helping them reach the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.

He also got a glimpse of first-team action when he was named in the squad for Watford’s FA Cup third-round clash with Reading in January – while he was still 15.

Amass is not the first player to leave Watford for a bigger club this month: Adrian Blake, the England U18 forward who was on Tottenham’s radar, joined Dutch side Utrecht earlier in June.

Coincidentally, Man Utd have also seen one of their own starlets move to Utrecht: Zidane Iqbal – who made one appearance for United’s first team – completed his transfer today.

Amass will follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, who also began his career at Watford before moving to Manchester City at 14 and then to United last year.
