Step-by-Step Process for Immigrating to Canada (See Links)

In recent years, many people have given becoming a permanent resident of Canada some thought. Although it seems like a difficult process, it is doable. There are a number of paths, but for the sake of this article, we will concentrate on the Express Entry (EE) program’s Federal Skilled Worker route. This article will assume that you are currently outside of Canada.

To get started, try simulating your CRS score. This will enable you to decide whether you should continue on your path or look for an other way to immigrate to Canada. You can do this by going to the webpage for the CRS tool. You can compare your CRS score to the score for the most recent Express Entry invitation draw once you have an idea of what it might be. The draws takes place almost every two weeks.

Don’t give up if you learn that your simulated CRS score is far lower than the results from the most recent draw. You might need to concentrate your efforts on the Provincial Nomination Route as a result, but that’s all. This will increase your chances of achieving your goal of moving to Canada. The success of any activity is largely dependent on the preparation stage. The application process for immigration and permanent residents of Canada is the same. The procedures you must follow to apply for permanent residence in Canada under the federal direct entry process are listed below.

How to Apply to Live in Canada Permanently

Step 1: Visit www.cic.gc.ca to review the background information on how to become a permanent resident of Canada.
Choose either English or French by clicking the appropriate link. Then select “immigrate.”

NOTE 1: WE WILL RECOMMEND THAT BOTH HUSBAND AND HUSBAND WRITE THE LANGUAGE TEST IF YOU ARE MARRIED.

Step 2 in IELTS writing is to register for the test by going to the British Council website. The IELTS General exam must be taken. You can also take the French Language Test, which can increase your score.

Note 1. The IRCC has set a minimum score of 6 for each of the following: Listening, Writing, Reading, and Speaking. I’ll advise you to go for a higher grade.

Note 2: Writing the French language exam is optional but can increase your score total.

3. You must prepare thoroughly for the language test. I must emphasise this. Make the sacrifice and put a lot of effort forth. Check out our advice on how to be ready for the IELTS exam if you need assistance.

Credential Evaluation Step 3: You must have your educational credentials (ECAs) evaluated by a recognised Canadian agency in order to meet the requirements. These ECA organisations are CES, ICAS, WES, IQAS, MCC for physicians, and PEBC for chemists (for other professions besides medicine and pharmacy).

Note 1: It is advised that the Principal Applicant (PA) and the Spouse analyse their educational backgrounds for the Education Credential Assessment (ECA).

Note 2: You must assess all of your academic accomplishments. Focus on your greatest degree of education if, however, you are experiencing trouble getting your educational institution to provide your paperwork to the evaluating authority.

Note 3: It may take many months for ECA results to reach you; the delivery time is at least 6 to 8 weeks. You must therefore stay on top of this.
The first three steps are crucial to your immigration to Canada process. You can’t advance without completing them.

Step 4: Gather all of your documentation at this point (e.g. IELTS test report, ECA report, job related document, Proof of funds, Birth Certificate etc.).
To submit a profile, you do not need to upload any documents, however you may require information from some or all of the following:

a provincial nomination (if you have one) a written job offer from an employer in Canada a passport or other travel document language test results education credential assessment report if you are applying through the Federal Skilled Workers programme or you want to get points for the education you received outside of Canada (if you have one)

Step 5. Now is the moment to use MYCIC to access the express entry pool. There are three choices:

Using a direct route with high CRS Points (this allows you to live in any province in Canada)
Province-level nominations: You will need to build a profile on the website of some of the provinces (like Manitoba and Saskatchewan) and submit your application. When being chosen and nominated, this would automatically give you 600 points.

Step 6: If you are chosen from the pool, the IRCC will send you a “Invitation To Apply” (ITA). During 90 days, you must decide whether to accept or reject the ITA.

Step 7: If you accept the ITA, you must visit one of the specified medical facilities in Nigeria to have your medicals. When you’re ready, use the MYCIC portal to upload all of your supporting documents.

Step 8: If all goes according to plan and the background, security, and criminality checks are approved by IRCC as satisfactory, you should receive your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) between 1-6 months.

Step 9: Be ready for your landing procedure in Canada with the help of your COPR. These are the steps you must take to become a permanent resident (PR).

Please take note that each application for a permanent residence in Canada is unique. While Mrs. B’s application may take many months to process, Mr. A’s application may take two months.
