NLC Announces Two-Day Nationwide Protest Against Hardship

iexclusivenews – The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced plans to stage a two-day nationwide protest on February 27 and 28 to express their dissatisfaction with the Federal Government over the prevailing hardship in the country.

The NLC president, Joe Ajaero, made this known at an emergency meeting held at the Labour House in Abuja on Friday.

He said the protest was a result of the failure of the Federal Government to honour the 14-day ultimatum given to them by the labour unions to address the issues affecting the welfare of Nigerians.

According to iexclusivenews, the ultimatum was issued to demand reforms that would alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.

The labour unions accused the Federal Government of reneging on the agreement they reached in October.

We are left with no option but to resort to this action, because of the continuous disregard of the welfare of citizens and Nigerian workers and the unbearable hardship imposed on them.”

Given this situation and the need to protect and defend the rights and dignity of Nigerian workers and citizens, the NLC and TUC hereby issue a strong warning to the Federal Government to fulfil their part of the agreement within 14 days from tomorrow, the 9th day of February 2024,” Ajaero said at a press conference last week.
