NBC Suspends Channels TV, Slams N5m Fine

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that NBC have suspended Channels Television with a fine of N5 million for breaching broadcast code.

The fines were announced Monday by National Broadcasting Commission NBC over the station’s airing of a spokesman for IPOB on Sunday, Vanguard reported.

This online news medium confirmed that the station was still broadcasting as of the time of filing this report.

A management official at Channels could not be reached for comments Monday evening.

NBC has expanded its crackdown on radio and television stations for airing materials that were deemed uncomfortable for the Buhari administration.

NBC accused the station of allowing the guest speaker to make derogatory, false and misleading statements about the Nigerian army, despite being proscribed by a court of law.
