Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United legend, has responded to England’s 1-0 Euro 2020 victory over Croatia on Sunday.

iexclusive News Nigeria report that Declan Rice was also singled out by Ferdinand for his contribution to England’s victory over Croatia at Wembley Stadium.

Gareth Southgate’s side beat Croatia thanks to a second-half goal from Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.

“It’s about seizing opportunities, as we did, but also controlling the game through tough periods,” Ferdinand told BBC Sport.

“They were on the front foot at times, but then they took their foot off the pedal.”

“I was astounded by this team’s patience from start to finish. Declan Rice in front of the back four was excellent in his places, taking out crosses and moving into perfect positions to cut the lines into the attackers, in my opinion.

“There would be more difficult assessments in the future, but they did what they needed to do today.”
