“I truly wanted to leave acting in the early days of my career,” she stated during an interview with Sunday Scoop. To begin with, the stress of traveling from one location to another can be stressful. The demand for sex in exchange for roles was the second reason why she wanted to also quit acting. Many people approached me and said that if I dated or had sex with them, it would boost my career. Nobody phoned me for jobs because I declined. I sat at home for months, unable to find work because I refused to sleep my way to the top. Because I’m not sleeping with people in the industry, I’m confident I’m at this point right now. Only God, I believe, has the power to turn someone into a celebrity. I’m not in a hurry. God’s timing is ideal.”

Peju Johnson also refuted the notion that actors are fetishized. “A lot of people think performers are fetish,” she remarked. Someone once warned a friend of mine to stay away from me because I was an actress and “would be fetish.” My companion chuckled and assured the individual that I wasn’t like that. My friend knows how much I pray and how close I am to God. Some actors may have fetishes, but this is not the case for all of us.”
