Cultism Awareness Day: Police on High Alert

The Osun State Police Command said on Tuesday that some cultists planned to celebrate cultism awareness day, also known as 7/7, which could result in a bloodbath in the state on Wednesday.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Olokode, has warned the cultists and others involved to cancel the planned celebration and avoid cultism.

Speaking through the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, the CP stated that such unlawful gatherings could jeopardize state peace and result in property destruction.

The PPRO stated, “Intelligence provided to the police command revealed that cultists intend to celebrate Cultism Awareness Day on July 7, 2021.”

“The Commissioner of Police has issued a marching order to all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Units to be on high alert and to prevent any act that could jeopardize the state’s peace.”

“The CP advised parents and guardians to caution their wards to be law-abiding and refrain from any act or unlawful gathering/ assembly prior to, during, and after the said date, as the State Police Command will arrest and prosecute defaulters.”

“In addition, hoteliers, recreation/event centers, and landlords/landladies are warned by this announcement not to allow their facilities to be used for any cult-related activities/meetings, as owners of such facilities are liable for prosecution,” the announcement reads.

The Police Command advised residents of the state to go about their lawful daily activities, assuring them that the Police Command had taken the necessary security precautions to prevent a breakdown in law and order.
