Woman Who Claimed She Had 10 Babies At Once Is Being Held.

Iexclusive News Nigeria reports that after being incarcerated in a mental health facility, the husband of a South African woman who claimed to have given birth to ten infants has gone to court to urge that she be released from the psychiatric hospital she’s being confined in.

Local government officials in Pretoria, South Africa, believe that Moliehi Maria Sithole, better known as Gosiame Thamara, did not give birth to ten children and may not have been pregnant when the news about her breaking the world record for decuplets went viral.

The woman had never been pregnant before, according to a local government report.

The woman had previously claimed to have given birth to triplets, which was also unconfirmed, according to the newspaper.

She is being held against her will at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital on an order from the Gauteng Department of Social Development, according to her and her husband Teboho Tsotetsi.

Refiloe Mokoena of Refilwe Mokoena Attorneys filed legal papers alleging that she was being held illegally after being arrested by the police without a court order or any criminal case against her.

Government officials, according to the woman’s lawyer, have violated her right to freedom of movement and liberty.

He said she also had the right to refuse medical treatment, adding: “I’ve been refused permission to speak to her by police who said they were acting under orders from the Department of Social Development.”
