Gunmen Attacked A Bank In Ondo State.

Iexclusive News Nigeria reports that During a gunmen attacked on a bank in Ilara Mokin town in the Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, three people were slain by the gang of robbers.

During the Thursday incident, three additional people were reportedly injured when they were hit by stray shots.

The hoodlums are claimed to have carried away an undisclosed sum of money.

Mr Bunmi Afuye, a police officer, a commercial motorcyclist, and an Elizade University employee, were among those killed, according to Metro.

Afuye, a journalist, was hired as the university spokeswoman two months ago, according to our source.

The robbers allegedly used explosives to burst the bank’s bullet-proof door, allowing them entry to the banking hall.

According to a witness, the deceased Okada rider and the Elizade employee were passing by when they were approached by the robbers while the operation was in progress.

They were reportedly injured by stray gunshots.

The policeman was murdered by the dynamite, according to our source.

A resident who was inside the bank when the robbers arrived said the gunmen were six in number and struck around 3pm.

He said, “I was inside the bank when they came. Immediately, all of us lay down and they started shouting, ‘Where is the manager?’

“So, they got the key to the vault and packed the money there. But they were not satisfied with what they saw and they opened the Automated Teller Machine. By then, there was not enough money. That infuriated them and they shouted, ‘Where is the money?’ It seemed they didn’t get their target. After they took the money, they went out angrily shooting to escape the scene.”

Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, the state Police Public Relations Officer, verified the occurrence, saying that a team of officers had been dispatched to the location and that an investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, in a statement on Thursday, directed security agencies in the state to arrest “the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to book in the shortest possible time.”

He said the death of Afuye had cost the journalism profession “a bright star.”
