Idogo and Simon have been detained in Delta State for the murder of a 50-year-old pepper seller.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Akpoghene Idogo, a 20-year-old cobbler, was arrested by detectives from the Oleh Police Station in Delta for his alleged involvement in the death of a 50-year-old pepper trader.

The defendant allegedly conspired with a man named Onos Simon to assassinate the pepper seller for ritual purposes.

Idogo fled the area to evade capture, but Simon was apprehended two days after the incident.

After killing the woman, the suspects allegedly removed some important parts and buried her body in a shallow hole, according to the police.

In a statement, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer Edafe Bright said the cobbler was apprehended in Kwale, where he had sought asylum.

Idogo’s arrest, according to Bright, comes after Simon made a confessional statement about the alleged murder of Mrs. Patience Komore, 50.

“Following a robbery, Paul Oboware, Divisional Police Officer, Oleh Police Station, led a mixed team of police officers and vigilantes to Kwale town on August 6, 2021, where Akpoghene Idogo was apprehended.

“The culprit has been on the run since the alleged murder of a pepper seller by his companion, who was previously caught.

“Efforts to apprehend additional suspects who contracted the evil act and paid the suspects N100,000 are ongoing,” he added.
