BREAKING: Sultan Declares Tuesday Muslim New Year

Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, has declared Tuesday to be the first day of the Muslim New Year 1443 A.H.

 

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that this is according to a statement issued by NSCIA Director of Administration, Arc. Zubairu Haruna Usman-Ugwu, on Sunday in Abuja.

 

This indicates that Monday is Dhul-Hijjah 30, the 30th day of the Hijrah 1442, and the last day of the Hijrah 1442.

 

“After examining the findings of the National Moon Sighting Committee, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, has designated Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 as the 1st day of Muharram, 1443 AH,” Usman-Ugwu stated.

 

The Sultan had already ordered the Muslim Ummah to keep an eye out for the new moon of Muharram 1443 AH on Sunday, August 8, 2021, in which he wished all Muslims a joyful new year.
