World Cup: Special Eagles Qualifies, Seek Govt/Corporate Support

The Special Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Turkey and are seeking government and well-meaning Nigerians’ support.

Following their success at the Amputee Football Cup of Nations (CANAF 2021) competition in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the Nigerian National Amputee Football Team, often known as the Special Eagles, has qualified for the World Cup in Turkey.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that CANAF 2021 began on November 27, 2021. The team, which won silver medals at the previous African championship, met Egypt and Ghana in the tournament’s group stage in Dar es Salaam.

Although the squad did not win the title in Tanzania, their strong performance was enough to get them to the World Cup, and the team is now seeking backing from both the government and the corporate sector to ensure a successful excursion in Turkey.

Prior to the Amputee Games, the team spent time intensely practicing at the National Stadium in Surulere.
