Ukraine News – Russian forces have taken over the Ukrainian city of Kherson, local officials confirmed late Wednesday, 

iexclusivenews reports that according to the mayor of the Ukrainian port city of Kherson, the Ukrainian army has withdrawn and Russian forces have taken over the city’s administration building.

The city is much smaller than Kyiv or Kharkiv, with a population of 300,000, yet it has a key location along the Black Sea coast in the country’s southeast.

Since Moscow’s invasion a week ago, this is the first big city to fall.

According to the United Nations, one million people have fled Ukraine in the week since Russia launched its invasion, making it the fastest refugee flight in history, Ukraine News.

The US State Department condemned the remarks as dangerous and announced that a missile launch was being postponed to avoid any misunderstandings.

“I’d like to see President Biden put up a sign saying America no longer imports Russian oil, but he hasn’t been able to do so,” Sen. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, said.

According to Russia’s military department, 498 Russian servicemen have been killed and 1,597 have been wounded in Ukraine since the assault began last week.

According to Ukrainian military estimates, the Russian toll is much higher: 7,000 Russians killed and hundreds taken prisoner.

Between February 24 and March 1, according to the UN Human Rights Office, 227 civilians were killed and 525 others were injured in Ukraine. This is a list of confirmed cases; the true death toll was “much higher.”
