PIDOM Nigerian Whistleblower Vanishes, Accounts Compromised

(iexclusivenews) – PIDOM, a prominent Nigerian whistleblower has disappeared, and his social media accounts have been compromised, according to an investigative report by journalist David Hundeyin.

PIDOM, who gained fame for exposing government corruption through high-profile document leaks, has been missing since August 5.

David Hundeyin’s investigation reveals that someone, possibly working for the government, has been posting from PIDOM’s social media accounts to hide his disappearance.

This person reached out to Hundeyin, claiming to be an associate of PIDOM, and attempted to hack the journalist’s WhatsApp account.

The alleged associate told Hundeyin that PIDOM had been arrested by the police and was being held at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.

They claimed PIDOM was given nearly impossible bail conditions.

PIDOM’s whistleblowing activities have caused significant embarrassment to the Nigerian government over the past four years.

His leaks have led to multiple warnings from the Presidency to the civil service, citing the Official Secrets Act.

PIDOM Disappearance Raises Concerns

During Hundeyin’s exchange with the person controlling PIDOM’s accounts, attempts were made to uncover the journalist’s location.

The use of surveillance technologies typically only available to security agencies like the DSS and DIA raises serious questions about government involvement.

David Hundeyin noted, “The fact that this person kept tweeting from PIDOM’s account after August 5 meant they had another reason for wanting to get me involved now, 17 days after the fact.”

The journalist suspects that the attempt to give him false login credentials for PIDOM’s accounts might have been a ploy to track his physical location.

Fortunately, Hundeyin uses a VPN, which protected his actual whereabouts.

PIDOM Crypto Addresses Frozen

Further investigation revealed that PIDOM’s cryptocurrency addresses were among those allegedly frozen by the Nigerian government.

These addresses were linked to sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protests.

Hundeyin speculates that the attempt to involve him in PIDOM’s disappearance might be part of a larger cover-up.

He raises a chilling question:

“What if the attempt to rope me into the narrative management surrounding his disappearance is an attempt by Nigerian intelligence to conceal their torture and/or murder of a prominent whistleblower?”

This case highlights the dangers faced by whistleblowers in Nigeria and the extent of government surveillance.

It also underscores the importance of independent journalism in uncovering potential abuses of power.

As the search for PIDOM continues, many are calling for an investigation into his disappearance and the apparent compromise of his social media accounts.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with exposing government corruption in Nigeria.

The full details of Hundeyin’s investigation are available in his published report, which provides a comprehensive look at the events surrounding PIDOM’s disappearance and the subsequent attempts to manipulate the narrative.

This case has sparked widespread concern among human rights activists and supporters of government transparency.

Many are now watching closely to see how the Nigerian authorities will respond to these serious allegations of misconduct and potential human rights violations.
