Achonu Wins Imo Labour Party Gov’ship Candidate

Athan Achonu, a former Senator for Imo North, has emerged the governorship candidate of the Labour Party for the November 11 election in Imo State.

iexclusivenews reports that Achonu clinched victory in a keenly contested election held in Owerri, the state capital, Saturday.

This online news outlet gathered that the Chairman of Election Panel and governor-elect of Abia State, Alex Otti, declared Achonu the winner of the primary, having scored the highest number of votes.

Achonu received 134 votes, according to Otti, while Jack Ogunewe received 125 votes, the closest competitor.

Athan Achonu expressed how much the mandate meant to him and pledged to keep his word.
