AFCON 201 – Nigeria’s second 2021 Africa Cup of Nations match against Sudan will be without Chidozie Awaziem.

Awaziem missed the Super Eagles’ 1-0 victory over Egypt on Tuesday AFCON 2021 match.

The 25-year-old was left out of the matchday squad, with interim manager Austin Eguavoen stating after the game that he had suffered a minor injury.

The defender was expected to return on Saturday, but he missed the team’s recovery workout on Wednesday.

With Nigeria’s next match on Saturday, Awaziem is in a race against time to make the squad.

Kenneth Omeruo paired with William Troost-Ekong in the center of defence to keep a clean sheet against Mohammed Salah and his teammates while he was away.

Despite picking up a knock during the game, Omeruo is believed to be fit for the game against Sudan after being seen in training.
