Ahmad Massoud Calls For Uprising Against Taliban

Ahmad Massoud, the chairman of the anti-Taliban National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRFA), has called for a national revolt against the Taliban.

The group published an audio message on Monday that included Mr Massoud’s call.

“Our countrymen, wherever you are, inside or outside, we call on you to begin a general revolt for the sake of our homeland’s honor, freedom, and pride,” he stated.

“Everyone is free to stand up and shout loudly in any way they see fit – we will never accept humiliation!” Mr. Massoud continued.

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Massoud urged people to fight through armed conflict or protests, promising that his group would be with them to the end.

He remained silent about Taliban allegations that the Taliban had taken Panjshir, the province his fighters were defending.

The Taliban declared victory over opposition forces in the Panjshir valley northeast of Kabul on Monday, proclaiming the Islamist group’s takeover of Afghanistan complete and promising the formation of a new government soon.

After combat with the NRFA headed by Massoud over the weekend, pictures on social media showed Taliban members standing in front of the entrance of the Panjshir provincial governor’s compound.

At a news conference, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said, “Panjshir, which was the last sanctuary of the escapee enemy, has been taken.”

“With this victory and recent efforts, our country has emerged from the maelstrom of conflict, and our people will live a joyful existence in peace, liberty, and freedom,” he had declared earlier.

The Taliban promised the residents of Panjshir, who are ethnically different from the Pashtun-dominated Taliban who battled the Islamists throughout the Taliban’s administration from 1996 to 2001, that no “discriminatory act” would be taken against them.
