Atiku Deletes Facebook, Twitter Posts On Deborah’s Killing See Why 

Atiku Abubakar has removed a message about dead Deboral Samuel that he had syndicated on his Facebook and Twitter pages after receiving threats from northern zealots who told him to drop his presidential bid.

iexclusivenews reports that Mr. Atiku’s posts were deleted less than an hour later, around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday. Within minutes, both had received thousands of reactions.

This online outlet understands that the majority of the comments came from fundamentalists warning the politician not to denounce the Christian student’s death.

“There can not be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice,” Mr Atiku said. “My condolences to her family and friends.”

Meanwhile, iexclusivenews Nigeria reports that Mr Abubkar’s spokesman did not respond to a request for comment on why the post was removed from Facebook.

The former vice president didn’t delete a similar comment he wrote on Twitter until much later, indicating that he may have noticed a difference in reaction to the sensitive topic between Facebook and Twitter users.

Ms Deborah Samuel was assassinated at Shehu Shagari College of Education on Thursday morning for reportedly making anti-Muslim statements.

The killings have sparked widespread outrage and condemnation, with Catholic priest Matthew Kukah and the Sultan of Sokoto urging for the culprits to be brought to justice as soon as possible.

Mr Abubakar hails from Adamawa state in northern Nigeria, but he continues to have widespread support, particularly among southern Christians who consider him as a moderate statesman.
