A Yoruba group at the fore of agitations for self-determination, Apapo Oodua Koya (AOKOYA), has defended the Indigenous People of Biafra against allegations of planned attacks.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had earlier raised an alarm that IPOB was planning to launch an attack on soft targets in Lagos State.

BREAKING: Fr. Mbaka Shuts-Down Adoration Ministry

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has announced a shutdown of the Adoration Ministry for a period of one month.

This may be connected to the earlier directive given to him by the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Bishop Calistus Onaga.

The ministry sent out a notice early Tuesday morning informing members that Fr. Mbaka was proceeding on a one-month private prayer retreat.

It was, however, silent on whether it was in obedience to the Bishop’s order.

A message to that effect monitored on DAILY POST read: “Our Spiritual Director, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka wishes to inform his beloved adorers that he has embarked on a private prayer retreat that will end on 10th June 2021.

“Consequently, no ministry activities shall be held in the ministry ground pending his return.

“He directs that members of the ministry are to observe this period of his retreat as they used to do during the usual January breaks of the ministry, by praying at their homes, being charitable and fasting according to their ability. Adoration! Holy Spirit is our Power.”

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Nnamdi Kanu, the IPOB leader has debunked the allegations that the group is plotting an attack in Lagos State.

Earlier today, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, claimed that the state Police Command is investigating IPOB, Oodua Republic and other groups over a plot to attack soft targets in the state.

According to Odumosu, 24 of such groups have been identified and they are being closely monitored.

He assured that the security services in the state have all of them on their radar.

In reaction, Kanu took to his Twitter page, to state the “lie” was a plot to fuel division.

“The public is hereby notified that the allegations that IPOB is plotting to attack Lagos is a LIE,” Kanu wrote.

He added: “Lagos State CP, Hakeem Odumosu who made the allegation is a former CSO to Tinubu & their intention is to fuel division between Yorubas & Biafrans. It won’t work. This is not 1967!”

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that understands that a report monitored on Peoples Gazette, says armed men suspected to be robbers invaded the residences of two senior aides to President Muhammadu Buhari inside the precinct of the Presidential Villa.

This online news medium gathered that administration officials and security sources told Peoples Gazette that the incident which occurred on May 9 (yesterday) prompted Ibrahim Gambari and Abubakar Maikano, the chief of staff and admin officer, respectively, to abandon their residences, sources said.

“Their houses were robbed and the robbers packed money and other valuable assets from both houses,” an aide to the informed about the robbery told The Gazette.

It was not immediately clear whether or not valuable documents of state interest were carted away by the intruders, but the report monitored on The Gazette says residences were thoroughly ransacked.

“The robbers took away as much as possible from both places,” a security officer that confirmed the incident said. “What is more unfortunate is that no one has been arrested.”

Officials also said Buhari Chief of staff was given an official residence at the Defence House, but has not been living there, preferring instead to live inside Aso Rock and be close to the president.

Nigeria’s presidential palace just east of the city centre has long been seen as highly fortified and far beyond the reach of burglars, bandits and other criminals currently holding the vast swathes of the country to ransom.

But as criminal activities overshadow other matters of national consequences, President Buhari has faced calls to act urgently before it would be too late.

Armed bandits have abducted thousands of citizens since January alone, claiming billions in ransom payments at an alarming rate.

No explanation was immediately rendered for the invasion and why it was not prevented by the ubiquitous contingent of security officers, especially those of the State Security Service (SSS), guarding the fortress.

Buhari Chief of staff did not immediately return a request seeking comments.

A spokesman for the SSS said he would not comment on the matter and a spokeswoman for the police in Abuja abruptly disconnected the call upon hearing The Gazette’s enquiry was about a security breach at the Presidential Villa.

Armed robbery attack on Aso Rock raises fears that the rising insecurity across the country is drawing closer to the elite than previously estimated.

Bandits: We Receive Weapons From SSS, Split Ransom

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that armed bandits have disclosed that they have been receiving arms and ammunition from operatives of the State Security Service and often split ransom payments received at gunpoint.

The criminals told Deutsche Welle in a recent report that they “borrow weapons” from the state agents and then go to work to share ill-gotten gains together.

The bandits also said some police officers have been a part of the conspiracy that has fueled insecurity across Nigeria which President Muhammadu Buhari has been accused of being too lazy to address.

A spokesman for the SSS did not return a request seeking comments from Peoples Gazette about whether or not the secret police was aware of a possible alliance between its officers and armed bandits wreaking havoc across the country.

The report surfaced amidst widespread claims that Nigerian security forces are fueling insecurity for financial benefits. In 2018, Theophilus Danjuma, a former chief of army staff, said the Nigerian military and other state agents were actively supplying weapons to violent criminals waging a war against minority rural settlers in Nigeria’s north-central.

The Buhari administration denied the allegation, but several indications have emerged repeatedly since then that appeared to show that the government was not as concerned about the raging crisis.

Last week, Mr Buhari warned Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, where armed militia elements have killed thousands and razed hundreds of villages since Mr Buhari assumed power in 2015, to either accept the controversial ruga policy or continue to endure violence with his people.

Last month, Mr Buhari also stood by Isa Pantami, one of his cabinet ministers who was recently exposed as a hardline jihadist and lover of Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda and other groups and persons long associated with terrorism.

See Why Kogi Is The Most Peaceful State in Nigeria -Yahaya Bello

iexclusive News Nigeria reports that Kogi government has adjudged its state the most peaceful in Nigeria amid the continued deterioration of security nationwide.

This was stated by Governor Yahaya Bello’s security adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (retd.), at an annual interfaith dinner organized by Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) to foster religious unity in Kogi.

Mr Omodara, who spoke on behalf of Mr Bello, attributed the “most peaceful status” enjoyed by Kogi to “the quality leadership style brought into governance and administration” by the governor.

The security adviser added that if other governors could provide quality leadership as provided by Mr Bello to make local hunters and vigilantes part of their security policy, the country would be a peaceful nation.

He stressed that security remained everybody’s responsibility, adding that people need to defend themselves.

The security adviser noted that Kogi’s geographical location ought to have made it the most insecure state.

“We must be tolerant and respect our various faiths, and we must continue to promote peace among the people of Kogi state,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of JNI, Usman Bello, commended the promotion of religious harmony and peaceful coexistence among the people of different faiths by the government.

This online news medium gathered that the JNI leader said the interfaith dinner aimed to demonstrate the strong desire to ensure a point of convergence with other religious groups in preaçhing the gospel of peace and harmony in a diversified and heterogeneous society like Kogi.

The Chairman of CAN in Kogi, John Ibenu, who delivered a lecture titled ‘Religion As The Greatest Unifying Force Among Mankind,’ attributed the greatest religious problem to the ignorance of the scriptures.

Sheikh Usman Taoheed, Chairman, Da’awah JNI, also delivered a lecture titled ‘Religion As A Force In Moral Development.’
