The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its eight-month-long industrial action and resume work immediately.

iexclusivenews reports that on Friday, the court in Abuja ordered ASUU to respect the decision of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) before filing its appeal.

According to this online news source, Femi Falana, the lawyer for ASUU, told FIJ that the court had ordered him to advise his client to respect the NICN but had also given him seven days to submit their appeal.

He said, “The court asked me, having regards for my reputation, to advise my client to comply with the order of the lower court. It was a directive to me.”

Meanwhile, iexclusivenews Nigeria recall that the NICN, on September 21, ordered ASUU to call off its strike, which began on February 14.
